zabenzi's file

These photographs offer a look into my visual research on color, eroticism and fiction throughout Brazil.

Zabenzi (b.Rio de Janeiro, 1999) lives and works in between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil. Multimedia artist. Self-taught, she started working with photography in 2015. Her work brings a constant comparison between human presence and urban noise. The images also speak of the protagonism of detail, and the sincere eroticism present in any body. human or object.

Her research is centered on the tension that arises from the senses of the portrayed objects. Zabenzi does not seek to document scenes or faithfulness to reality. Everything is the result of invention and fiction, of the desire to create an intermediate space, generating feelings from our own repertoires, like a poem or a song.

Marina released her first self-pubblished photobook, ENTRE, in 2021 and was selected by ZUM Magazine, of Instituto Moreira Salles Museum in the Call of Photobook of the Year and was intreviwed by the same museum in the end of 2021.

This year, Marina was nominated as Emerging Photographer of the year at the Latin American Fashion Awards
