Surge

Me and my brother have not spoken to each other in many years now, for reasons I am beginning to forget. As the distance between us keeps growing, I find myself confronting the fragility of blood-ties.

Without severing more chords, I photograph to see the complexity of sibling relationships for what it is, without guilt or despair. And I put myself through a rigorous process of creating imagery to express when communication had ceased. Every leaning in, rough play and affectionate touch visualise ways of seeing discord. To me, photographs in Surge are the medium to hold and take on the burden of loss of connection.
