In January 2022, residents of the Zvyagino village in the Moscow region were struck by the sudden arrival of construction equipment to the floodplain of the Klyazma River. The builders said that a new cottage community would be built here, and they themselves had arrived to pave the road. The Internet has filled up with ads: land for sale in the soon-to-be-built “Zvyagino river club”.
Natural areas in the Moscow district have been under intense construction in recent years. Forests and rural territories are gradually being replaced with the urban landscape. The quality of air and water is deteriorating due to ill-conceived development.

In February 2022, the court banned any work or registration activities in the floodplain. Construction was suspended, but the lawsuits are still ongoing. Developers are still selling land through private owners, despite the prohibitions. The fight goes on…
