Wasted.

The word wasted came from video games. Usually when your character die in the game then the screen present the word "wasted".

It all started from I bought a can of Morton salt at Utqiagvik, Alaska. Usually the Morton salt is $1.99 on the other 48 state in that year. But it sale as $9.99 at Utqiagvik, because there was a USPS shipping label on the pack. So I guess the price added shipping cost. I bought a can of the salt, then threw it on the Arctic beach as a salt line and watched it submerging by the water. The salt was from the sea, then it went the factory to became commodity, and then it shipped to this far town for sale. Finally it threw back to sea. I think about this loop for many years.

The ongoing project collect nihilistic vision of landscapes from all over the world. Such as salt line on the beach, ripples, water streaks on paper, contrail on the sky, etc. What they have in common is these matters are fleeting, disappearing and die in vain.

These images are meditations and understandings about the life and its fact.

"Anyway the salt back to sea", Land art made by Tianxi Wang on Jan 1st, 2023. A 2m wide and 50m long salt line on a beach. Made during the artist residency host by Aranya Art Center, China. 5000kg salt on the beach should have slowly back to sea at high tide. However the local government forbid me put these salt back to the sea even they was from the sea. Because they believe it is 'safe' if I do not proceed this project. So I let the salt keep a distance from the water. When many audiences knew what the government did, they started to took some salt and threw it into the sea spontaneously. Any way the salt back to sea.
