Work made over the past year, focusing on the political climate in and around the city of Detroit.

I don’t feel I know enough about this world.

I study the news the best I can from different sources. I read books I should have read long ago. I know that no thing is ever truly one thing. I know that history keeps happening. I know I love people who believe in different things. I know it’s never all there.

I know what I know from paying attention.

Work made over the past year, focusing on the political climate in and around the city of Detroit.

Revolving around ideas of tension, hope, and uncertainty as people navigate their relationships to power, choice, and skepticism.

Liminal moments beyond the surface and emotions beneath them: quiet doubts, uneasy optimism, and the weight of decisions carried during times of change.

I think about not only my own reasoning and interactions with the world but also the experiences of others, drawing insight from observations in diverse settings—from gas station waiting lines to presidential campaign rallies, and everything in between. Both alone and together, in the end, all we have is each other.

These images were created beginning with the February primary in Michigan and continued through election night and the days that followed.
