Under the Shadow of Great Mountains

An offshoot from my We Are the Real You project, Under the Shadow of Great Mountains documents my growing interests in medium-format photography, film photography (both fresh and expired), and a continued exploration of the mountain range that divides my home state in climatic fashion (both in terms of weather and politics). At the time, I was also perusing the I Ching, intrigued at the ways in which it navigated thinking around change and transformation, taking particular interest in the hexagrams in which the trigram for mountain was on top. This sense of metamorphosis helped to inform the sequencing of the work while producing a zine that was premiered at the Photographic Center Northwest's Photozine and Book Fair in August of 2024.
