Two Beauties. Each, One With Nature.

Portraits of two women I regularly photograph to produce images that equate the nature of being a woman as being one with nature. Laura is a dancer. Asia is an artist. They are both inspiring to me in collaboration.

"Two Beauties. Each, One With Nature." is an ongoing exploration of environmental portraits of women. It compares women as one with nature. Our primal selves. My aim is to create images that are natural, empowering to women, with a nod to the romantic (nature) movement. And a borrowing from the fashion genre.

These are truly collaborations. When we go out on a shoot, we bring various costumes, wigs, props. We discuss the setting, season, weather, time of day. We discuss what concepts and feelings we wish to portray. We discuss best how to produce images that are both sensual and powerful and with a sensitivity as portrayals of the feminine.

I photograph with both my Canon 5D camera using various lenses and with my iPhone Pro Max.

My intention is to create evocative and beautiful portraits of these women which honor their place in the natural settings I have chosen.

Although I have pursued the idea of women in nature both photographically and in film and video for several decades, my project now is concentrating on these two beauties. However, in the future I will open the project to more women, of various ages and backgrounds.
