The project is an enquiry into an expanded notion of nature's ecologies in their natural and synthetic formats. Through image-making, the photographs attempt to convey visions and sensibilities that are otherwise difficult to comprehend in our everyday.

Third Bodies: Unsettling Natures in Posthuman Ecologies

Third Bodies: Unsettling Natures in Posthuman Ecologies documents my local coastal region, along with two coastal government museums in India and photographs from a couple of locations from my visit to Sharjah. Conceptualized as an interpretive threshold, inhabiting the liminal space between distinct zones, neither fully one entity nor the other, but a transformative, mutable presence that resists rigid segmentation.

The conceptual propositions, expressed through the images, attempt to untangle diverse insights that challenge the conventional understanding of nature and corporeality. The images propose transformative imaginaries that disrupt entrenched assumptions and broaden the space of how we envision and interact with ecological and ontological interdependencies, within paradoxical and generative spectrums of nature.

By extending the horizons of nature that are overlooked, alongside the existing forces of indigenous cosmologies, with broken and absent lineages of identities and intergenerational communal roots. Increasingly, nature has been sensationalised, territorialised, and subjected to psychoanalytic interpretations, turning it into a fragile sanctum sanctorum where hierarchies of race and caste have dictated proximity and distance. In this context, Third Body becomes a search for voice amidst territorial intolerance, slicing, withering, erosion, and rupture.
