The Unseen invites us to look closer at a creature we often ignore or reject. Through intimate macro photography, an ordinary fly reveals extraordinary details, challenging our perception of beauty and the life that exists right before our eyes.

The Unseen began with an unexpected encounter at my home in Puerto Rico. While walking outside, I noticed a fly feeding on the ground. What could have been an easily overlooked moment became an opportunity to explore a world we rarely take the time to observe.

Flies are everywhere, yet we often associate them with discomfort, instinctively brush them away, or simply ignore their presence. Through macro photography, I wanted to challenge that familiar reaction by revealing the extraordinary details hidden within an ordinary creature.

As I moved closer, an entirely different world began to emerge. The intricate patterns of its compound eyes, the delicate hairs covering its body, the complexity of its mouthparts, and the subtle movements involved in feeding became fascinating subjects of observation.

Rather than approaching the fly solely as an insect to document, I began to see it as a subject worthy of attention and curiosity. Each photograph presents a different perspective of the same creature, transforming something commonly dismissed into an intimate visual experience.

The Unseen is ultimately an exploration of perception, curiosity, and the beauty that exists in unexpected places. It invites viewers to reconsider what they instinctively overlook and reminds us that the extraordinary does not always exist somewhere far away.

Sometimes, it has been right in front of us all along.
