The project features seven interviewed characters: a cross-dresser, a young woman wearing a burqa, a comedian, a transgender person, a man who creates an alter ego to be accepted by society, a performer, and a six-year-old girl.

The theatre of the mind is a photography and video project developed in London through encounters with people met in the street or in everyday life.

I would approach individuals who attracted my attention, introducing the project and explaining my interest in documenting them. If they agreed, I would enter their world for a single day, visiting their homes, conducting video interviews, and taking photographs. The process was spontaneous and un-staged, based on presence, trust, and play.

The project reflects on perception, identity, and imagination. What is the mind, and what is the theatre within it? Do we construct reality through thought and belief? Are we shaped by society, politics, religion, education, and fear of judgment? And ultimately: who am I — an actor, or myself?

The work questions whether reality is created or discovered, and whether identity is chosen or conditioned.

The project includes a short video presentation and seven individual interviews (20 to 55 minutes each), alongside photographic works. The participants are: Alan (the cross-dresser), Humaira (“I choose my religion: Islam”), Madkillermiller (an unimportant person with a business card), Stephanie (“Finally I am me, a woman!”), Louis Grey Magus (my alter ego), Tacco Matto (“I am my emotions”), and Graça and her imaginary dogs.
