The opening collection at Nilaya Anthology - a boutique design destination in the heart of Mumbai, explores the Indian subcontinent as a place that links countless cultural contexts to the ever-evolving language of design.
From the rolling hills of Nagaland, where women from small weaving communities come together every morning to work at the village centre, to a miniature painter from Rajasthan who has innovated an already mastered technique, to the banks of the Yamuna flowing through Srinagar, where pashmina dries in the wind, and the ancient lime-plastering 'Araish' maestros of Jaipur – the project threads these craft practices into the cultural fabric of our present.
This fabric made of migration and memory is what we call legacy. And legacy is just perseverance that becomes tangible with time.
Shot over a full year, the project culminated in a solo exhibition at Nilaya Anthology in Mumbai.
