Based on the premise that masculinities are technologies of domination, my project, The Man Does Not Exist, explores the concept of the phallus, its connection to the construction of contemporary Western masculinities, and its consequences for society.
Based on the premise that masculinities are technologies of domination, my ongoing project, The Man Does Not Exist, which is part of my master's degree in visual arts, explores the concept of the phallus according to Lacanian theory, its connection with the construction of contemporary Western masculinities, and its consequences for society.
Late capitalism, spearheaded by white cisgender men, is driving the world toward destruction. Meanwhile, we—the Others—watch in anger and revolt. They’re exploiting and ravaging the Earth for profit, destroying nature and building aberrations whenever it suits them, while contemplating the colonization of other planets to spend their fortunes under our eyes. Figures like Bukele, Orbán, Milei, and Trump are increasingly gaining influence worldwide; fueling the rise of fascism with the backing of other men like Zuckerberg, Musk, and Bezos. These individuals, represented here by the bear-man hybrid, make no secret of the fact that our elimination is central to their power agenda.
They’re powerful, filthy rich, and heavily armed; yet we’re greater in number. In the spirit of resistance, I propose a radical alliance to counter those who seek to obliterate us. I call upon the LGBTQIAPN+ community, women, immigrants, mothers, fetishists, and people with disabilities to unite in creating an army to dismantle the structures that oppress us.
With these forces of destruction removed from power, we can build a new world; rooted in solidarity, care for planet Earth, and respect for all forms of life, human and non-human alike.
