The last summer/ chapter iii: la guerre

A journey between the past and the present in a rural house in Northern Italy. A personal reflexion about identity and the need to build adult memories in a place that belongs to my childhood and to people of my family who passed away many years ago.

THE LAST SUMMER

This project is about a house in the countryside that my parents inherited by my grandparents.

It's the place where I used to spend the summer during my childhood.

After many years I found out a book with a dedication for me written by my grandmother: "...may this memory be always with you".

I used some titles of the summary to create my own chapters.

I. SOUVENIRS D'ENFANCE (2016):

Old pictures of my grandmother and her sister's childhood and youth that I found and that I revisited.

II. TRAVAIL SPIRITUEL (2011-2016):

A journey between the past and the present, revising old pictures and confusing them with new ones, blending memories and expectation.

In 2011 my parents wanted to sell the house - they later changed their minds- and I wanted to say goodbye to that place.

3. LA GUERRE (by Diambra Mariani and Francesco Mion - 2016):

When my parents decided not to sell the house, me and my partner decided to go to live there at least one month a year to bring it back to life. It's a sort of 'war' against decadence, but it's like a 'sanctum', a private place protected by modernity.

This submission is all about the third and last chapter, "La Guerre", by me and Francesco Mion.
