The Forest, lookback and glitter

The Forest, lookback and glitter is a photographic visual practice project centered on the forest. Its core purpose is to reveal a non-narrative, quiet, independent, and pure forest. For me, the theme of this project is a kind of non-narrative restraint.

The Forest, lookback and glitter is a photographic visual practice project centered on the forest. Its core purpose is to reveal a non-narrative, quiet, independent, and pure forest. For me, the theme of this project is a kind of non-narrative restraint.

The inspiration for this project comes from personal experience—beyond the vast forest, I have been moved by this grand, ancient living entity. Countless trees form a complete forest. At a specific moment and from a specific angle, the forest is observed as a whole. This moment of "the forest being seen" constitutes my original intention for creation.

The ontology of photography is the foundation of this project. I believe photography possesses two characteristics: the ability to convey stories through images, and the unique capacity of this medium to record what is before the lens. The former can be called mediality, the latter ontology. What I pursue in this project is an exploration of ontology.

This project is a candidate for PhMuseum Days 2026 Photography Festival Open Call

Forest#1 Have you ever felt this way? When you wander in the forest, at a certain moment, the trivial things in the forest like leaves and flowers disappear in an instant. You feel a "holistic"forest appearing in front of you, with a unique sense of distance. At that moment, you had a visual point to observe the forest. This photo is the moment I once encountered, when a pond appeared in the sk

Forest#4 When I useing camera, I realized that when a person raised a camera, there would always be a desire to compose. This photo is an attempt I intentionally abandoned the composition. Try to pursue a visual balance between color and details.

forest#7 Before this scene, I was just meditating in the forest, and suddenly a "balanced forest" appeared, so I recorded this scene. Now, this photo is used as a meditation tool to bring me back to that moment often.

forest9 This photo was taken in a forest not far from the city, and some faint light would come from the direction of the city, and the light would give a kind of center.
