The Forest, lookback and glitter is a photographic visual practice project centered on the forest. Its core purpose is to reveal a non-narrative, quiet, independent, and pure forest. For me, the theme of this project is a kind of non-narrative restraint.
The Forest, lookback and glitter is a photographic visual practice project centered on the forest. Its core purpose is to reveal a non-narrative, quiet, independent, and pure forest. For me, the theme of this project is a kind of non-narrative restraint.
The inspiration for this project comes from personal experience—beyond the vast forest, I have been moved by this grand, ancient living entity. Countless trees form a complete forest. At a specific moment and from a specific angle, the forest is observed as a whole. This moment of "the forest being seen" constitutes my original intention for creation.
The ontology of photography is the foundation of this project. I believe photography possesses two characteristics: the ability to convey stories through images, and the unique capacity of this medium to record what is before the lens. The former can be called mediality, the latter ontology. What I pursue in this project is an exploration of ontology.
