Kyiv caught in time. Amid war’s silence, solitary figures linger — a city suspended between fear and defiance. “Stop Time” reveals resilience, heartbreak, and unbroken spirit in every paused moment.

The “Stop Time”

Series – A Project Dedicated to the People of Kyiv

Work on this series began in 2023 and continues to this day. It is a story of personal feelings and emotions amidst a life that has been put on hold — the life of a country violently halted by a devastating war.

“Stop Time” is an emotional portrait of Kyiv and its citizens, who found themselves at the center of global attention. The capital resists the largest country in the world and stands strong and unbroken, sustained by worldwide support. This is how we see it through the screens of both local and international discussions.

But how can one truly convey what is felt and seen with one’s own eyes? For me, as an artist, the only way is through visual art. To me, Kyiv is first and foremost my home and my soul — a city I deeply admire for its resilience and inner strength. My aim as an artist was to capture a wave of time that divided life into “before,” “in the moment,” and “after.” Each frame is a story about today’s reality, and I will continue this work for as long as the war endures.

For now, I live in a “pause,” doing everything I can to bring its end closer. That is why I strive to share with the world my own vision of life during war. In these images, you will not find crowds consumed by fear or scenes of violence — only solitary silhouettes, frozen in time together with their city. They are lonely, and yet, they are one.
