Song for the Siren

'Song for the Siren' explores the idea that healing is a process that is deeply intertwined with nature and one another. Using photography, I have found a way to heal from my history of sexual abuse, by connecting with myself, nature, and other women.

My ongoing project, Song for the Siren, explores the intersections of trauma, healing, femininity, and our connections to each other and nature. Through photography, I navigate my own history of sexual abuse, finding solace and strength in my relationships with myself, the natural world, and other women.

At the heart of this project is the belief that healing is a journey intricately tied to nature and community. Just as nature possesses the power to regenerate, women can discover healing and renewal by reconnecting with the natural world together. This exploration emphasizes the beauty and resilience inherent in women’s experiences, as we honor our paths of transformation.

In Song for the Siren, I aim to celebrate the narratives of women who, like sirens, draw strength from their surroundings while navigating the depths of their own stories. The imagery reflects moments of vulnerability and empowerment, inviting viewers to engage with the complexity of healing.

The images in this series are collaborative and intimate. I communicate honestly with my subjects about what these photos mean to me, and in return, they choose the setting, date, and time in which they feel most comfortable. These images feature women in natural environments that symbolize growth, healing, and resilience, or in spaces they cherish, often their homes. From serene forests to cozy bedrooms, these settings serve as metaphors for the journey of healing, offering refuge, renewal, and connection.

Through this work, I seek to create a space for dialogue around trauma and resilience, highlighting the importance of connection—to ourselves, each other, and the world around us. By weaving these themes together, I hope to inspire a sense of solidarity and shared healing, illuminating the transformative power of feminine strength.
