This photographic project was created with two main goals: to test the photography skills I developed during lockdown and to search for life, both in the world around me and within myself.

During the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, I traveled to Brazil with the intention of challenging myself creatively while reconnecting with a sense of vitality.

Before this trip, I had spent many months in strict lockdown in Montreal. The long period of isolation affected me deeply. Being indoors most of the time meant I rarely experienced natural light, and over time this absence had a strong impact on my mental health. I went through a period of depression, and I began to understand how essential light is to my mood and overall well-being.

It was during that difficult time that I discovered photography. What started as curiosity became a passion. I became especially interested in capturing light, how it shapes forms, creates shadows, and transforms ordinary scenes. Learning to observe and photograph light gave me focus and purpose when everything felt uncertain.

In Brazil, I sought environments filled with natural light, warmth, and movement. Each image in this project reflects that search. The photographs are not only about place; they are about atmosphere and the feeling of being alive. This body of work represents my effort to reconnect with nature, creativity, and myself through the simple but powerful act of capturing light.
