REM Cycle

REM Cycle explores the threshold between dream and reality, where fears take on visual form and the body merges with nature. The self-portrait becomes a site of transformation, balancing fragility, decay and regeneration.

REM Cycle is a series of self-portraits in which I explore unconscious emotions and obsessive visions of dreams. The photographs echo the imagery of the REM phase, where fears and anxieties take on material form and the boundaries between consciousness and the subconscious become porous. When dreams penetrated my real life in the form of illness, I introduced plants into the images as a performative gesture of restoring energy and cyclicality. Here, the self-portrait becomes a medium of transformation, where personal experience acquires a universal dimension.
