PYRITE

Like fool’s gold, pyrite deceives without lying: it appears precious, yet requires an educated gaze to be recognized. The project questions the effects of the digital ecosystem, opening a space for reflection on our current systems of belief.

The digital experience is ambivalent: it connects and, at the same time, suspends.
It never returns a neutral image, but instead selects, directs and retains traces.
To inhabit it is to enter a condition of constant simultaneity, where one is here and elsewhere at once, visible and invisible, present and dissociated.

Within this ongoing shift, the contours of identity become porous.
The skin does not always coincide with what is perceived.
The image becomes an extension of the body, yet also its subtraction.
A flow of dopamine promises belonging while replacing depth with speed, dialogue with shortcut.
Every gesture can be captured, archived, relentlessly returned.

Within this dynamic, intimacy and daily life turn performative, exposed to a state of continuous visibility that reshapes the way we inhabit both our body and our thoughts.
Recognizing and disowning ourselves in the same instant.
Where, then, do our boundaries lie?

Pirite examines the cognitive, relational and emotional effects of the digital ecosystem, seeking critical tools to navigate its fluid nature.
