‘Power’ consists of constructed images in which Jesper depict his own family as political figures. All the work finds its origin in how power and politics have been represented in the media for decades and have therefore ended up in our memory.

What does power look like? In Power, Jesper Boot researches the carefully constructed political image of the leaders of today, both international and local. He depicts facial expressions, movements, hands signs and uniforms of politicians, using only cheaply made copyshop backgrounds and his own living room as a decor. At first glance, the photo’s look like a trustworthy image of a politician, speaking at a conference or walking to an important meeting. When you take a closer look, you see tape around the edges or the salt bags that hold up the European union flags. He constructs images that look familiar, and then deconstructs them if it turns out that they show not a trusted politician, but his own family.
