A foray into quizzical sites and experiences that lend a quirky delight to the everyday.

Peculiar Attraction is an ongoing project that captures whimsical locales around the country. Begun during the COVID-19 pandemic, originally researching these features on sites such as Roadside America and Atlas Obscura provided a reason to get out of the house. A trip to photograph a tiki statue near a distant boating club house lent something different to days that felt the same. Since then, these kinds of sites have served as destinations in their own right, sometimes leading to points far afield. Or, they can be incorporated into trips already planned.

With the increasing homogenization of culture, trying to find examples of the quirky throughout the world helps to fuel a sense of wonder and possibility.
