For the past year, I have been documenting the life of street vendors and their children around Mercado de Jamaica in Mexico City, Mexico. Due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, more people have had to turn to selling items on the streets in order to make money. Some of these people are parents with small and/or school age children. The schools in Mexico City have been closed for almost a year, and as a result, many of the children of street vendors, have had to accompany their parents to work. For public school children, the Mexican government has turned to television and the Whatsapp phone application as a solution to educate these children. However, many of the street vendors either do not have or cannot afford the supplies necessary to educate their children. The grant money awarded will be used to financially help street vendors with children around Mercado de Jamaica in Mexico City, during this global pandemic.
