Nightingales

Nightingales We pour our dark nocturnal secret ; and then, as night is withdrawn From these sweet-springing meads and bursting boughs of May, Dream, while the innumerable choir of day Welcome the dawn. Poem Nightingales by Robert Bridges (extract)

Nathalie Mohadjer was invited in September 2012 by the La Fragua Art Residence in the Convento de Santa Clara in Belalcázar, Spain, in cooperation with the Museum Casa Gongora-Sala Galatea in Córdoba. The series NIGHTINGALES was created during this one-month stay.  The village of Belalcázar, located in the north of Andalusia, is characterized by rural unemployment with its 3000 inhabitants. NIGHTINGALES shows the contrast between the lethargy and loneliness that prevails during the daytime due to the extreme heat and the awakening of the community, which begins only at dusk.
