My project is about how humans are similar and how we navigate the passage of time.
These photographs have been taken over the course of different stages of my life. They tell the story from my last years of high school (Oregon, New York City, Japan) to when I moved to the Netherlands for school. The photos are bounded in their color scheme, the dreamy, sometimes flat painter-like quality that they have, and their subject of a human silhouette. In my photos, I want to capture and show to my audience how similar we all are in a positive way that doesn't make one's existence feel unimportant; despite our cultural differences. (Which is why I didn't focus on facial features just the overall silhouette) In addition to that, I want these photos to feel like you were standing there in my shoes with me as we jump from all the places in my story.
