Stories of Courage, Humor, and Joy

In January of 2025, Donald Trump became President of the United States for the second time. Local, regional, and national protests began even before he took office.

Trump and members of his administration called protesters terrorists, enemies of the state, lunatics, evil people, paid agitators, people who hate our country, and more. Of course, this is not true. This photography project is an effort to show protesters as passionate, informed, and involved people working to change Mr. Trump's policies.

My goal is to show that people gathered to protest with understandable anger and frustration with Trump, and also gathering with courage, humor, and joy. The photos show that Trump protesters come in all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds.

Photos for the project were taken at twelve outdoor protests from January 2025 to January 2026 in and near Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.

The photographs are presented in black and white square format, reminiscent of Mid-20th Century street photographers.
