While exploring Kyiv and its surroundings, I aim to document how the war's brutal and devastating consequences are reflected in people who return, move, stop, stay, or continue living here. And vice versa, how the losses experienced by people are reflected in the space they coexist with.
The russian-Ukrainian war has been going on for more than one year. And this cruel war destroys people in different ways. Its consequences or injuries are not always visible, but they bring both inner and outer destruction, which affects our future. While observing and returning to the same places and liberated territories after some time, it seems very important to talk about space, people, and their unanimity through time.
Along with documenting the war and its consequences, for me, photography also means revealing, not forgetting, and storing the tragedies and pains we go through in our individual and collective memory.
*Photos, I have submited were taken from May till August 2022 in Irpin, Bucha, Moshchun, Horenka, and Borodyanka (cities in the suburbs of Kyiv).
