A personal narrative exploring emotion and identity on a deeply personal level
The relationship we have with ourselves is often one that we ignore. This series began as a single, cathartic moment – a moment of letting go. What followed was a journey into my own psyche.
In my having to take the photograph as well as being the subject, the process becomes a sort of performance and this collaboration between mind and body sometimes produced some surprising results, allowing my subconscious to rise to the surface.
This total immersion has allowed a questioning of my self- perceptions, my identity, my thoughts and judgements, and given me the opportunity to gain a new understanding of myself. In doing so offers others a chance to connect with me, but also to examine their own inner voices.
As humans we are not fixed, we change throughout our lives but sometimes it takes time to realise what those changes are; to understand who we are now, not who we were - it can be easy to ignore those voices.
This is a visual autobiography, my diary, of 365 internal voices.
