I was thinking about the sea

It's a 10-day story about last summer, about a trip to Sardinia with my father. I photographed our journey along the coast, remembering the places of my childhood and those that impressed me. On the last day we took my mother's ashes into the sea.

I was thinking about the sea. I dove into a deep daze and started breathing again.

I was thinking about the sea. I think Mom said that when I asked her to choose a site.

I was thinking about the Sardinian sea, of the coast where the Mistral calls for power and the dunes are impassable walls.

I thought for 8 summers, the ones where we were 2, at the seaside. At the ninth I returned to Sardinia, remembering the years when we were 3.

I thought I could decide if there would be a Mistral on that August 30th, praying to find a calm sea.

I entered the water with dad holding my hips and I watched the water and the wind carry away the ashes. The 7 o'clock sun watching us.

'I was thinking about the sea' is a 10-day journey through the sea of my childhood to bring my mother's ashes back to the place she wanted 9 years after her passing.

It was shot entirely on film and the selection presented consists of 15 photos.
