Houseplant is a work on my ultimate escape from a predefined societal expectation of womanhood.

'A houseplant is an ornamental plant that is grown indoors. As such, they are found in places like residences and offices, mainly for decorative purposes'.

‘Houseplant’ is a work on my own self-destructions and recoveries, a growth from a girlhood to a womanhood that emerged independently from “traditional” societal norms.

A houseplant suggests the notion of nurturing and growth, but also the confinement of being contained within certain parameters or expectations, a decoration on display.

In this ongoing personal project, I examine the experiences of personal transformation and individualism emphasising the choice to remain childless and embracing love in its multifaceted forms.

Childhood traumas have pushed me to question monogamy and motherhood while navigating marriage and a polyamorous lifestyle, challenging conventional views on relationships and familial roles.

The absence of traditional family structures represents a different path, one that defies societal convention and redefines relationships and gender roles.
