Growing Up

"Growing up" is a series of collage works about family and identity. Most of the works are self portraits. The collages are an mix of photographs from my family album as well as my own art photography.

My father in particular has been responsible for documenting our family life persistently throughout my upbringing. The series thus becomes a story both told by both my father and I.

By creating the series I am rediscovering pieces of my childhood personality that are reflected in my child gaze. In the same way, I try to relive the child's naivety and playfulness in my art practice.

The series makes me remember moments from a joyful, fearless, and light-hearted childhood in a world that with the eye’s of a young adult seem fragile and unpredictable.
