Grim Solace

Grim Solace is a short series shot on digital and film in the woods. It's about decay and feeling unnerved.

There's a lot of death in the area, both figurative and literal. The soil is full of nitrogen from human waste leeching from the manure in the fields beside us. Winter no longer has snow for as many days a year, with fog replacing other more familiar forms of landscapes this time of the year. I can barely afford to get up here anymore, nor can I afford the film that I find would fit my expressions more appropriately. Everyone works so much that they can't do much else other than drive home, eat and sleep. The area suffers because of it. Scrap is littered about the properties; maybe we could have used this around the house, or for an art project, but now it lays abandoned until we return to the soil ourselves.
