This project involves posing this question to various people, having them write about why they chose that particular landscape, then visiting the location together and photographing the view they are looking at.

From the series “Vulnerability” (2025〜)

“What is the place you visit, think of, or gaze upon from time to time?”

A personal question may, at times, transform into a universal one.

An individual’s way of thinking may, at times, become a key to seeing the world.

I asked this question to people of various backgrounds − regardless of nationality, age, gender, or profession − and traveled to the “place”each person imagined, capturing the scenery they see. I would like to begin exploring what it means to live in this absurd world through personal dialogue.

Since starting this project in June 2025, I hope to keep taking photographs in place beyond Okinawa.

The act of “seeing” or “taking photographs” has always contained a certain violence or dominance within the act itself, and its fragility has been questioned.

The act of seeing, layered upon layer, and the act of being seen within that landscape, will likely reflect each other as layers encompassing the landscape's past, present, and future.
