Four Women

While women always have roles defined by society—girls, wives, mothers, and grandmothers—each woman has a rich and abundant life outside of their assigned roles. Taking my family as an example, I have witnessed the changes in the social roles and living conditions of four generations of women in China. Through our lives, I have seen the historical moments and life experiences at different times.

The main topic in Four Women is to resist the stereotype of women at different age groups and explore the relationship between personal life experience and mainstream history storytelling. From the last three generations of women in my family to myself, it is the process to find who am I and why I am here.
