"FAULTS” is a poetic exploration of the concept of suppression within human experience, the transient, ever-changing natural world and the struggle to balance amidst its unsteady ground.

What can we look to hold on to and keep our balance when the world feels so unstable. By taking looking closer at the dissonance between the man made and the natural world, can we take a different perspective in how to see the beauty in our mistakes, adaptations and the unintended?

"faults" was created during a month long residency at the base of Mt. Fuji and its surrounding environment. With a landscape strewn across a fault line, the ground beneath your feet always has the possibility to crack, life must adapt accordingly. In Japanese culture the natural world is seen as a something spiritual, something to respect, something that allows for imperfections. Responding intuitively to the surrounding community and environment, “faults” is a poetic exploration of the concept of suppression within human experience, the transient, ever-changing natural world and the struggle to balance amidst its unsteady ground.
