This body of work operates at the intersection of memory as an unreliable narrator and the rejection of the idea that a photograph represents reality. It is a loosely tied together narrative retelling of my childhood. The project depicts my journey from being taken from my mother, to homeless at 18 years old and reconnecting with my mother, to recognizing queerness in myself. Deconstructing my upbringing through an abstract lens is a way of healing wounds and learning to love, forgive, and move on.
