A childhood retold through an abstract lens

Evolution and Other Stories is a surreal retelling of my childhood growing up in the midwestern United States. As I grew up religion, gender, and regional expectations began to weigh heavily on me. The project operates at the intersection of memory being an unreliable narrator, and the rejection that a photograph is a depiction reality. I lean into the artifice of photography to reveal truths through the constructed image. Evolution and Other Stories is a story of healing, forgiving, and moving on.
