DUSTS OF FORGETTING reflects the archipelago as scattered islands of memory. Each image is an isolated fragment of what once existed, yet linked through nostalgia, time, and transformation, turning loss into a map of connected traces.
DUSTS OF FORGETTING
2021 – (in progress)
This project emerges from a desire to evoke emotions tied to the past—what once existed and now lingers only as a faint memory. I capture scenes, objects, flora, and fauna that gradually fade and transform over time. Time itself becomes the central force in this exploration, guiding me in revisiting and reimagining past moments.
Through both digital and manual intervention, I alter my photographs to visually express the disintegration of dust—an interplay of implosion and explosion. Using pointillism with inks and pigments that dissolve into the image, I create compositions where material and memory merge.
My work emphasizes the ephemeral and melancholic nature of what once was and has now become unrecognizable.
Can images evoke meaningful moments that invite us to pause and reflect on the passage of time?
