An attempt to question the visual representation of the participants of the climate conference (COP24) in Katowice, Poland in December 2018, from a position of distant proximity.

Die Beharrlichkeit der Maßnahmen [The Persistence of Measures] (2018/19) was photographed in and around the grounds of the climate conference (COP24) in Katowice, Poland in December 2018. The photographs remain fragmentary and attempt to question the visual representation of the participants from a position of distant proximity. The arrangement of the images also refuses to point suggestively and opens new spaces, while the gaze of the viewer is repeatedly blocked or reciprocated.

The various situations of negotiations, the press conferences or so-called photo opportunities and the ecological brisance of the event can only be guessed at. The photographer approaches the event with an ambivalent attitude. She tries to analyse the event and finally describes her personal counter-draft. The mediality of the event - the staging for photographers and camera(wo)men - is reflected in the pictures and forms a kind of leitmotif.
