Diaspora

As an artist, I am drawn to the complex and poignant topic of human migration and the diaspora that it creates.

Through my art, I seek to understand the intricacies of belonging and identity, as well as the emotional toll that comes with being uprooted from one's homeland.

Having personally experienced the challenges of being an international student constantly on the move, I have grappled with questions of home and belonging and the rights that I possess in this world. These experiences have fueled my desire to explore the stories and emotions of others who have gone through similar journeys.

Through my work, I aim to bridge cultural divides and foster empathy by delving into the elements that influence migration and settlement in different regions, particularly in Saint Louis, MO, and its surroundings. As a visual artist, I utilize the power of photography as my primary medium to produce art that inspires viewers to think about and interact with this significant subject. My art allows me to connect with others, start conversations, and foster a greater understanding and empathy for people from different cultures and backgrounds.

I believe that by exploring the multifaceted aspects of human migration and diaspora, we can gain a greater appreciation for our shared humanity and the interconnectedness of our world. Through my creative approach, I strive to create thought-provoking and meaningful art that challenges perceptions, sparks dialogue, and fosters a sense of empathy toward those who have experienced displacement or the search for belonging.
