Decadentia

Decadence comes from Latin decadere ("to fall down"). It describes excess in action and immoderate indulgence of bodily appetites, especially in passion, among several meanings.

DECADENTIA is a project which documents how breaking away from society's imposed ethical and moral standards allows us to escape decorum.

Thus, showing ourselves as we truly are, how we perceive ourselves, and how we experience pleasure without any moral barriers.

This project highlights how a departure from what is usually expected of a body (regardless of sexual orientation, age, or health)

without any moral judgments, can result in bodies becoming almost fluid and rarefied. They sometimes appear transfigured by pleasure,

allowing them to reveal their true human substance and sense of self.

These images sometimes clash with strong social judgment. However, the characters depicted in them try to overcome this in order to survive, emotionally.

Consequently, they manage to reveal their own perceptions and selves, something that society as a whole fails at on a regular basis.

Therefore, those who stop to watch are not voyeurs. Rather, they are people who manage to legitimize what others judge. As a result, they are able

to grasp the true essence of these human beings who, through their actions and own awareness, choose to reveal their souls.

the more beautiful their souls are, the more difficult and painful the journey.
