Both Sides Now

These are completely fabricated environments created by "painting" with light projected through colored water and the shadows of objects on a tabletop. They came from imaging what my NYC view would look like when the flooding below reached my eye level.

Both Sides Now

This series came from my ongoing concerns about humans impact on the natural environment, specifically rising sea levels. I live in a flood zone which brings a raging river to my street during heavy storms. While my daily view of weather is amazing clouds mixed with the New York City skyline, I cannot help but imagine what that same view will look like through the rising water from the Hudson river when it eventually rises to my eye level.

The title of the series references both sides of the river I have lived on as well as the song (you know the one - "It's cloud illusions I recall") and the titles of each piece are from song lyrics about clouds.
