Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal condition in people with ovaries.
It is characterized by a disruption in hormone balance, which can lead to symptoms such as irregular menstrual cycles, increased production of male hormones, acne, hair loss or excessive hair growth, and sometimes difficulties with fertility.
In addition, small fluid-filled sacs (cysts) may be present on the ovaries.
Although PCOS can vary greatly from person to person, it often affects both physical and emotional health.
