It is fascinating the display of masculinity and the performance bodybuilding offers. A discipline in which the body is taken to extreme lengths to achieve the athlete’s peak in terms of body aesthetics. What started as curiousness in this sport became a need to document the behind the scenes of the bodybuilding competitions happening in my home-state of Baja California, Mexico. With this series it is my intention to highlight and show to new audiences a more insightful look at this community. All the portraits were taken backstage, which in my opinion, is where one can find the more interesting aspects surrounding the tournaments. Here one can find intimacy, vulnerability, camaraderie and moments of strength.
