The project, focusing on abandoned armchairs in nature and on the streets, documents how these objects, representing indoor comfort and memories, lose their value and status as they age and transform into new identities outside the home.
Leaving an armchair in nature or on the street instead of throwing it in the trash is much more than just an act of giving up an object. While it may seem like it's being removed from the comfort zone, from the center of the family gathering, the guilt of completely abandoning an old friend stops one. Because what is hidden in this seemingly worthless object is not just foam and fabric. It is the memory of the home. It is a break from a texture full of body traces, from shared comfort, from the soul of the home. The traces, memories, silences, arguments, and long waits accumulated in the armchair are not easily erased. Therefore, instead of throwing the armchair in the trash, setting it free is the embodiment of respect for memories in the object itself. In the public space, the armchair embarks on another journey of existence. Strangers sit on it, an animal lies on it, it integrates with nature. It wears down, transforms, and continues to accumulate new testimonies until it disappears. It is neither in the house nor in the trash. records this state of Seats in Purgatory being caught between two worlds and its silent continuity. It consists of photographs taken in 2018, 2022, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
