Traces left by different people over a century in a former British police station built in Shanghai in 1909.
Built in 1909 at 511 Jiangning Road, Shanghai, the building was originally a British-built police station and served as the headquarters of the Shanghai Municipal Police until 1943. In the decades that followed, it was used as a school and by various government departments.
Across its changing functions and generations of occupants, the building holds traces of the many lives that have passed through it. I photograph the quiet corners that time and people have left behind.
