A burnt car sits in the road; a crocodile slips toward the water. These fragments form a body of work that mirrors the experience of moving through the world—layered, disjointed, and continually reassessed through memory and feeling.
Archive 24 is a collection of quiet landscapes and fleeting moments.
The project began in 2023 after an eight-year body of work that left me both with a sense of deep accomplishment, and creatively exhausted. I wanted to simplify my practice. In the studio and outdoors, I photographed more freely and with greater candour—often with a point-and-shoot camera alongside the large and medium formats I typically use. I continued to work in the darkroom and deepened my love of printed matter by embracing more screenprinting.
A burnt car sits in the road; a crocodile slips into the water. These fragments mirror the experience of moving through the world—layered, disjointed, and continually reassessed through memory and feeling.
At times these images depict life in passing; at other moments they address the viewer directly—a heightened sense of being there. The work moves between different ways of being with a photograph: looking, looking back, observation, and relation. Unfolding and unguarded, they offer intimate glimpses of life: sometimes joyful, often uncanny.
A story of rest and encounter.
