Andanças

This photo series documents the moments up to a major fire at the Andanças dance and music festival in Portugal.

On the 3rd August 2016 a fire destroyed 458 vehicles at the Andanças music and dance festival at Castelo de Vide, Portugal. In the days prior to this extraordinary occurrence these images capture what was to be the last Andanças festival at that location.

This photo series depicts the unique family friendly atmosphere that drew participants from all members of society and created precious times past without the distractions of a modern world.

Today the festival lives on in other areas of Portugal, and since 1996 Andanças still unites people from all over the world in a spirit of sharing, meeting and sustainability. It provides room for dancing, making music, and to experiment, but also for sharing and exchanging ideas for a better world.
