“Amazonicidade (caboclagem)” is a project composed of everyday records and characters from the city of Porto Velho, capital of the state of Rondônia, in the Brazilian Amazon region. Porto Velho, like other Amazonian cities, establishes a close and aggressive relationship with the forest, and in this dependence it continues to build its own identity between urban time and the time of traditional communities.

Part of this process comes from my own memory and experience as a person. Of my relationship with the city, and is closely linked to the memory of transition that my grandparents and parents experienced when they migrated from the rubber plantations to the city. This is also the experience of many families in the region, who share the nostalgia and customs of ‘experiences’ in the forest with the rush and intensity of urban time.
