A Rainbow at Night is an artistic research project exploring language, imagination and perception in early childhood, starting from phrases collected from my two children and investigating how language shapes the way we see and understand the world.
A Rainbow at Night is an artistic research project exploring the relationship between language, imagination and perception during the early years of life. It starts from a collection of spontaneous phrases and drawings gathered from my two young children and focuses on a moment when language and ways of thinking are still taking shape, and the world is experienced through intuition and imagination.
The project uses children’s expressions as a starting point to think about how we learn to name and understand the world. Through photography, drawing, audio, video and text, the research will explore how language influences what we see and how our perception changes as we grow.
Ongoing project currently being developed through the IDEA Masterclass 2026/2027.
